In today’s hectic world, there never seems to be enough time to get anything done, let alone reflect on our everyday experiences. But working through the events that happen to us each day is very important to our mental health.
How to Process Your LifeOn behalf of tvlesson.com, Im Doctor Robert Hernandez, licensed psychologist and president founder of La Farfalla Retreat House.Lets talk a little about processing your life. It is very important to process different events that occur during your day and especially in your week. Most of us rush through our days and rush our through our weeks and months without giving a second thought as to how we felt or what different events took place within our lives. It is very important to process whats going on but how do you do that? The first thing I recommend is to keep a journal. This journal is not really about what you did in sequential order but about different things that come up for you, whether theyre different thoughts, different emotions that you have and its also important to state what event took place. As youre doing this journaling, the one thing you want to do is separate some time for yourself. Find a place where you could be alone and as youre alone, close your eyes or keep them open on a fixed object and allow yourself to breathe. As youre doing this, go back and review the days activities, review moments that you had that come up and remember, everything that comes up is always going to be important and valid. As youre doing this, you can then turn to your journal and write these events down. Again, most of us feel we dont have time to process or lives but if we dont, we remain very disconnected to how we respond to things that are occurring and with things that actually took place. In the olden times where we didnt have television or many distractions, thats mostly what people did. They sat around and told each other different things that happened during the day or the week and how they emotionally responded. Once again, processing your life is very important. On behalf of tvlesson.com, this is Doctor Robert Hernandez. Thank you for watching.
